Preparing for installation

  • Give it a wash

    Pick a sunny Saturday and start the makeover by giving your BMW a thorough wash. Remove all dirt and debris, paying extra attention to the areas you’ll be applying the film to. 

  • Clay Bar Treatment

    Start with your first panel. Wet it with some slip solution and rub your clay bar over the panel to remove contaminants.  

  • Dry Off

    When its looking smooth, wipe off that excess water with a microfibre cloth or squeegee.

  • Clean with Isopropyl Alcohol

    Wipe down with Isopropyl alcohol until you can see your own reflection.

Applying to your BMW

  • Slip

    Moisten the panel with slip solution. Then spray the exterior of the PPF film with the same solution. Peel the film from its backing and continue spraying the slip solution on its reverse side. Place the PPF onto the panel.

  • Align

    Have a good look at your car. Pick some key features to align your film with such as badges or corners. Once you’re cool with the fit, lift the film and apply a generous amount of tack on the area. Realign the film and squeegee out that moisture for a strong tack. Once tacked, don’t squeegee slip solution onto this area.

  • Stretch

    To fit the curves of a BMW, the film must be stretched. Choose an opposing corner to tack and stretch the film, aligning with the edge of the panel. Tack it down, then tackle the others.

  • Squeegee

    Squeegee out the solution from beneath the film using firm strokes. Ensure all moisture is removed to prevent silvering. Video to savour the satisfaction.

  • Edges

    Once all of the slip solution is squeegeed out, you can start to address the edges. Use firm squeegee strokes to wrap round the edges, using tack solution if it doesn’t immediately stick. Still struggling? Use a heat gun or a hairdryer on a low setting to secure the edges.

  • Inspect

    Inspect your panel thoroughly. See any bubbles, moisture, … a fruit fly? It happens. If you find anything, remove immediately by peeling back the film and use slip solution to release. Finally, reapply the film and squeegee for a flawless finish. Now you’re a PPF Professional.
